Alison Winkler

I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 1994. During my career I have worked in a number of practices including a busy small animal practice in Leeds for 11 years where I did further training in Acupuncture. Due to family commitments, I returned home to Scotland in 2008 and spent 10 years doing emergency work in busy out-of-hours hospitals in Edinburgh and Falkirk. I loved the challenge of treating critically ill pets but I missed getting to know pets and their owners personally so in January 2020 I started as Clinical Director at Mckenzies.

At home, I live with my husband (also a vet), two teenage daughters, Maggie a crazy Wire-haired Pointer, Albus an equally crazy American bulldog (or Boxer cross giraffe, we’re not quite sure what he is!), two cats, Raven and Tux who are always getting into trouble and Jasper an African grey parrot.

I love working at Mckenzies as everyone in the team is dedicated to looking after all the lovely pets and owners we are so lucky to have here. It’s a privilege to be trusted with the care of everyone’s pets and I will always try my best to look after them as if they were my own.
